Dear parents and carers,
We are starting our History topic, Invaders and Settlers, during our English and History lessons this week by beginning with the Celts. Due to current restrictions our trip to the Verulamium has been cancelled, however we are fortunate enough to be able to participate in an online workshop later this week to introduce the children to Boudicca and the Roman Empire. In maths we will be focusing on subtracting a 2-digit number from a 3-digit number and completing our work on addition and subtraction before moving on to look at our 3 times tables. This is so that we will be ready to start our unit of work on multiplication and division after half term. This week in Science we will be investigating different types of soils. In RE we will be answering the question ‘How did Jonah and Daniel respond to God?’ The children will be describing the similarities and differences between the ways Jonah and Daniel reacted to God’s call.
We would like the children to complete the following homework this week and over half term:
We are looking forward to meeting you all during our parents evening appointments and hope you have a lovely half term next week,
Miss Bayman and Miss Paish – 3BP
Mr Kent – 3K
Maths – watch the video titled ‘Add and subtract 3-digit and 2-digit numbers - not crossing 100’. If your child feels confident with this you could also watch the videos titled ‘Add 3-digit and 2-digit numbers - crossing 100’ and ‘Subtract a 2-digit number from a 3-digit number - crossing 100’: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/week-5/
If you would like a copy of the worksheets please email the Year 3 email address to request them.
English – read the text and have a go at answering the questions about Boudicca.
RE – watch the story of Jonah and the Whale (first link) and read the story of Daniel and the Lion’s Den (second link) to help you answer the question ‘How did Jonah and Daniel respond to God?’:
