Spring 1 Week 4

Dear Year 3 and families,

We are now moving into Week 4 of our remote learning and hopefully things are now going nice and smoothly.  We have enjoyed seeing all the lovely learning that is going on at home, please keep uploading it on My USO.  We have also started our registration sessions this week and we feel they are a good opportunity for us all to gather together, answer any questions and have a quick chat before the day’s home learning begins.

We are going to start to give out orange tickets on J2stars next week.  When the children are in school, we give out gold and blue tickets for good behaviour and attitude to learning.  The orange tickets are the equivalent of these for children learning from home.  These virtual tickets will be matched by a real ticket that will be put into the weekly draw in school.  Winners will be announced in the newsletter as usual.  The orange ticket will be on J2star.

Look out for them!

Just a reminder that there is a daily powerpoint for every White Rose maths lesson.  These may continue additional resources to support the children’s learning or activities for them to complete.  Also the final question on each worksheet is a challenge and some are quite challenging! The children can have a go at them but if they are struggling, please leave it out.

This week, we are learning about how and why shadows change in science, money in maths, finishing our newspaper reports and "Arthur and the Golden Rope" in English and ‘I am the Light of the World’ in RE.

Next week we will stop setting Bug Club on a Friday for reading comprehension.  Instead we have allocated your child a reading band where they can select a book they would like to read and complete the linked activities independently. We will have a book swap session every other Monday (next one on the 1st February) at the front of school from 10.30 to 11 if your child would like to change their reading book.

Many thanks for your continued support and please get in touch via Teams or the Year 3 email if you have any questions.

Miss Bayman, Mr Kent and Maggie
