Week Beginning: Monday 1st March 2021

Friday 26th February 2021

What a fantastic start to this half term! Your work has continued to be amazing! We’ve loved seeing your character descriptions this week. We are so excited to see you return to school on Monday 8th March, we’ve missed all of you so much. We are so proud of how hard you have worked whilst learning at home.

Your final week of home learning can be found below. Links to all lessons, videos and resources can be found on the Weekly Learning Grid. Please check this for information on the week’s video calls. Some of the times and days of these calls have changed.

When you return to school can you please return any school reading books you have at home and handwriting books.

World Book Day – Thursday 4th March 2021

World Book Day is on Thursday 4th March. As we cannot celebrate in our usual way we have put some activities below for the children to complete. Please pick which activity/activities you would like to do. We are planning a dressing up Book Day later in the school year, on 23rd April. This date is Shakespeare’s birthday, St George’s Day and the Travelling Book fair will also be in school that week.

As a whole school we will also be creating a paper chain of all the books the children in school and at home read next week (1st-7th March). We would like the children to write their name, class and the title of the books they have read on strips of paper. They can do this for every book they have read (or have had read to them). Bug Club books are also included. A template can be found below to print out, or any similar sized strips of paper can be used. We will include some paper chains when you collect new reading books on Monday 1st. Children should bring their slips of paper into school when they return on the 8th March. We will make the strips into a paper chain and put it up at school to see if we can travel the length of the building with all the books the children have read.

Notices:

  • New reading books will be ready to collect on Monday 1st March February between 9:30am and 10am. Please remember to return completed books during this time as well. During this time we would also like you to bring into school any work that has been completed at home. Please do not return any 3D shapes you have made as you will need them. Please ensure that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. If you are unable to collect reading books, please email and let us know or log into www.activelearnprimary.co.uk and read the allocated BugClub books. • If you are unable to print any of the resources at home please send an email to the year 2 email address before 8:00 am on Monday 1st and we will make packs available for you to collect with your child’s new reading books.

Thank you for all of your hard work this week. Remember we will be logged into Microsoft Teams chat daily between 9:30 and 11:30 to answer any questions you have. Outside of those times you can email: year2@archdeaconcambridges.richmond.sch.uk.
