Year 1 Weekly Information Letter

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a great end to this half term, 1B have really enjoyed Ms Matthews teaching them whilst Mr Bowie was away.

The children have written very imaginative endings to The Clock Tower and have impressed us with the exciting adjectives they have used in their writing.

Please find some information to help support your child over the next week.

Reading

We have sent home 3 reading books for you to read with your child during half term. We have sent home a list of sounds and words to learn which are in the children’s reading diaries.

Topic

After half term we will be looking at Continents and Oceans around the world to start off our Explorers topic.

Maths

The children will continue to use number facts to help with addition and subtraction problems using number lines and whole part models. They will also learn related number facts. If… 6+4=10 and 4+6=10, then…10-6=4 and 10-4=6.
