May Half Term

Update – Friday 22nd May 2020

Dear everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely week. Thank you for all of your work this week, we have loved seeing you retell the story of ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ and the animal habitats you have made. Remember to keep looking at them to see if any animals have appeared. Come back to the Year 2 page on the school website on Monday (25th) to see pictures of some of your work from last week.

We will not be setting any home learning for half term, we would like you to take the time to relax and enjoy the lovely weather (hopefully). If you would like to complete any home learning activities you haven’t done, please use this time to do them. We have added a list of popular books for Year 2 children. This is not a suggested reading list but just some ideas if you are thinking of new reading material for your child.

After half term we will continue to set work for home learning. For our topic and History focus we will be looking at the life of Florence Nightingale. In Maths we will continue to consolidate the four operations using a range of methods. In RE children will be learning about how Christians make and keep promises before God with a focus on Baptism and Marriage. Our Science topic will focus on Animals including Humans. We will explain these in more detail after half term.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of the hard work you are doing. 2N and 2PR you have worked so hard during this strange and different time. We are all so proud of the work you have done and you should be proud as well. Parents we would like to thank you for all the effort you are putting into home learning and delivering our activities to your children. Thank you for all the extra effort of uploading work onto j2e for us to see. We appreciate it so much. Remember j2e is our way of communicating with you and your children on a one to one basis, it’s great when children reply to our messages so we can engage in conversations that we would be having if we were at school.

We are missing you all so much and can’t wait to see you all. Have a lovely half term! Stay safe and have fun,

Miss Nichols, Mrs Patterson and Mrs Renahan
