Dear Parents,

Homework
English: This week we have been writing character descriptions about Grannie Island and Granma Mainland from the Katie Morag stories. The children have practised putting noun phrases into their sentences and challenged themselves to extend their sentences using conjunctions such as: and, but and because.
Please help your child to complete a character description of a character from any book that they have been reading. The character description should be at least three sentences.
Maths: This week the children have been practising using their number bond knowledge to 10 and 20 to solve number sentences. Please complete the attached Addition cut and stick sorting activity sheet.
Spellings: Please complete the attached spelling sheet using the: Look, Say, Write, and Check method. The children will be tested on these words next Wednesday 30th September. The children will bring home their completed test each week. Please help your child practise any words spelt incorrectly. We are currently revising the Common Exception Words for Year 1.
Notices:
From this week we will be uploading the Parent weekly letter and homework to the Year Group page of the school website. We have also created a Support at home folder with information on what we will be covering in class each week and links to tasks that the children can complete if they are absent from school. These tasks should only be completed if your child is absent from school.
