Year 1 Weekly Information Letter
Friday 4th March 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have enjoyed Book Week and looked great dressed in the clothes that make them happy. Magenta Fox discussed her job as an illustrator and the children were fascinated by answers to their questions. Year 1 went to the school library and chose a book to take home. This will continue every Wednesday.
Please find some information to help support your child over the next week.
English
We will continue to work on our core text “Bob – Man on the Moon”. This week the children will be creating their own planet setting and alien character. They will also start to make a story plan to prepare for when they write their own space story.
Maths
Year 1 will continue to work with numbers 0 – 50 with the focus being one more and one less than any given number.
Topic
The children have been learning about Continents and Oceans for our Explorers topic. This week we will be labelling parts of the United Kingdom.
Homework
In the homework folders there is a sheet for the children to write about what their favourite moment has been so far in Year 1. We would also like them to write about what they are looking forward to in during the rest of the year. Please encourage your child to use “because” in the sentences to help add detail to their answers. These will form part our year group assembly on the 18th March.
Parent consultation evening
We are looking forward to seeing you and discussing your child’s progress on Tuesday and Thursday. All of the log in details you will need are stuck on the back of your child’s reading diary.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
