Year 1 Weekly Information Letter

Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope that you found the Parent consultations useful. It was lovely to be able to catch up with you all this week. This week the children have really impressed us with their use of adjectives to create and describe an alien character and a planet setting.
Please find some information to help support your child over the next week.
English
We will continue to work on our core text “Bob – Man on the Moon”. The children will write their very own Space Story using the characters and setting that they have created.
Reading
Please continue to read regularly with your child at home. The impact of doing so cannot be underestimated.
Maths
The children will be counting in 2s and 5s. Practise counting in 2s and 5s at home with your child. As an optional Maths homework on Busy Things there is a game called Monkey Stacks which will help your child with 2s, 5s and 10s.
Homework
Please help your child to practise their lines for the Year 1 assembly. If your child has a line it has been stapled into their reading diary. Some children will be taking part in a dance and do not have a line to learn. The assembly is on Friday 18th March. We look forward to seeing you then.
Extra information
On Friday 18th March children should come into school wearing their own clothes and not school uniform for the assembly. No costumes please. We will still have PE on this day so please ensure your child is wearing sensible shoes.
