Year 1 Weekly Information Letter
Friday 4th February 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have loved learning about the Luna New year this week. They have been trying to instil the virtues of the Tiger in their learning and enjoyed eating some fortune cookies!
Please find some information to help support your child over the next week.
Reading
Next week we will be assessing the children for their half termly phonics check. Therefore we will not read reading books individually with children but will change books as normal. We will send home a list of sounds and words to practise once the assessment are complete.
Topic
We will be finishing our work ‘The Clock Tower’ story next week. The focus will be to use their knowledge of Fairy Tales and noun phrases to write an imaginative ending for ‘The Clock Tower’ tale.
Art
The children will continue to weave next week using looms and wool to create a weave which they will be able to take home.
RE
We will continue to learn about Shabbat next week.
As an optional homework there is a link to a challah loaf recipe to bake at home with your child to have a celebrative meal.

Computing
The children will continue to learn how to use their myuso logins in school to access learning programs independently. We will also be teaching the children how to be safe whilst online both at school and whilst at home.
Maths
Next week we will be taking away using numbers to 20 using counters and also teaching them the crossing out method.
Other news
Mr Bowie will be on the Year 5 Sayers Croft trip Monday to Wednesday. Ms Matthews will be teaching 1B on those days.
