Home Learning: Week beginning Monday 18th May 2020

Update – Friday 15th May 2020

Dear everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely week and enjoyed the VE Day celebrations, even though they were from afar. You are all continuing to work very hard and are producing some lovely pieces of work. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful pictures of your Home Learning activities this week, we’ve loved seeing you work so hard and complete so many activities. It has been particularly moving to see the different ways that you have thought of to support people around you that was linked to our RE topic. Please continue to upload work regularly throughout the week, as this allows us to give ongoing feedback. Many thanks. If you have any problems please contact us through the Year 2 email.

This week we will continue to explore our topic of ‘Living things and their habitats’. We will conclude our work on ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson and will be looking back at the whole book. If you do not have access to a copy of the book please look back at the English Power Points from previous weeks to read the story. The final chapter of the story is in this week’s English Power Point.

In Maths we will revise addition and subtraction of two 2 digit numbers. Please spend time going through the discussion slides in the Maths Power Point to help the children consolidate their understanding of the methods that we have used. There is a fun, solve the mystery activity to end the week which allows the children to practise their addition and subtraction skills.

In RE we will continue to look at the ‘Five pillars of Islam’ and will concentrate on the fifth pillar: Hajj which focuses on making a pilgrimage to Mecca. Please spend time talking about how it will be different for pilgrims completing the Hajj this year.

We have also included some other activities for you to complete this week across a range of other subjects.

We are missing you all so much and can’t wait to see you all. Stay safe and have fun,

Miss Nichols, Mrs Patterson and Mrs Renahan

Welcome to the Summer Term 2024!
