Year 1 Weekly Information Letter
15th October 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have had another busy week, working hard and we have been so pleased with how the children are helping each other within the classroom. The children particularly enjoyed playing in the junior playground while the new infant playground markings were installed. Swimming has been a huge success this term and the children should all be proud of their efforts.
RE
We are very lucky that Reverend Cara our curate from Holy Trinity Church is coming into Year 1 to discuss the role the church plays in helping people within the community. The children will be preparing questions to ask Cara on Monday.
Reading
This week we have completed a phonic sounds and tricky word check. Your child may have some sounds and words to learn at home in their reading diary. We will read with your child as normal next week.
Maths
We will continue to practise working on number bonds to 10 this week. We will also be encouraging the children to work systematically. This means children have an organised method to process and work in an order.
0+10=10
1+9=10
2+8=10
Art and Design
The children will be creating natural collages in the wildlife area inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy.
On Friday, Year 1 will be sketching the school building and constructing models from their designs in teams using junk modelling. If you have any cardboard and other clean recycling that we could use in school for this we would be very grateful.
Notices
We look forward to seeing you all at the ‘virtual’ parent consultations on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st October. Microsoft Teams log in details have been sent home.
Friday 22nd October is mufti day so children do not need to wear school uniform. The children will still have PE on this day, so please ensure they are wearing appropriate footwear.
We hope you have a restful weekend, thank you for your continued support.
