Home Learning: Week beginning Monday 8th June 2020

Update – Friday 5th June 2020

Dear everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely week. You are all continuing to work very hard and are producing some lovely pieces of work. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful pictures of your Home Learning activities this week, we’ve loved seeing you work so hard and complete so many activities. Please continue to upload work regularly throughout the week, as this allows us to give ongoing feedback. Many thanks. If you have any problems please contact us through the Year 2 email.

Since school closed we have been going into school to teach small groups of children and doing lots of work from home.  Next week starts a big change for us, we will be back in school teaching some Year 1 children for part of the week. We will still be looking at all of your home learning so keep loading all of your activities and we will reply to as much work as we can. In line with other year groups we will only comment on the highlighted activities, but will continue to enjoy looking at all of the work you do. It’s going to be very strange being in school without you.

This week we will continue to explore the life of Florence Nightingale, through a range of activities this week. We hope you have enjoyed learning about her life so far.

From Tuesday 9th – Sunday 14th June the Barnes Children’s Literacy Festival will be taking place. They will have book readings and live events from a range of authors. Click the link to join in https://www.barneskidslitfest.org/whats-on/

In Maths we will revise how to find a fraction of an amount. We will then focus on how to use the RUCSAC method to solve one and two step problems involving all four number operations. To end the week there is another fun Maths mystery game for you to practise your Maths skills.

In RE we will look at Christian baptism and think about how baptism helps Christians to belong to the church. We’ve asked you to think of a question that you might have about baptism to put to Rev Tim and then we’ll ask him to try and answer them for us.

We have also included some other activities for you to complete this week across a range of other subjects. In Science we will continue looking at our topic ‘Animals including Humans’. This week’s focus is look at the cycle of a human and how we change through different life stages.
