  • Infant and Junior Choir Singing at the Rose Theatre, Kingston

    Mon 25 Apr 2016

On Wednesday 13th April, 91 choir children, plus staff and parents travelled to the Rose Theatre, Kingston for the annual Richmond Music Trust Singing Festival.  Children were dressed in blue and white to suite the theme of ‘Out of the Blue’ and everyone travelled to the theatre by specially chartered double-decker buses.  Our rehearsal started at 9am and the final concert was excellent.  Ms Dallosso (Music Teacher) and the staff were very proud of the effort, commitment and enthusiasm shown by our children; they produced a top-quality performance of our chosen songs as well as the four massed songs, all in harmony with the other schools.  Thanks to all the parents who were able to come along to the theatre and to the PTA for providing the wonderful transport.

  • Rocket Science Project

    Mon 25 Apr 2016

This Summer our Year 5 will be participating in an ‘Out of this World’ educational project organised by the RHS Campaign for School Gardening partnered by the UK Space Agency.  Two kilograms of rocket seeds accompanied by British ESA Astronaut Tim Peak on his six month Principia Mission aboard the International Space Station.  After several months on board, the seeds landed safely back on Earth in Kazakhstan with Commander Scott Kelly of NASA and Russian Cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergy Volkov of Roscosmos. Archdeacon Cambridge’s have now received two packets of 100 seeds to grow and compare and our findings will be uploaded onto a national online database so that results can be compared across all schools in the UK.

  • Marathon Man, Ben Smith visits Archdeacon Cambridge’s

    Mon 25 Apr 2016

There was great excitement at the school on Friday 22nd April as Ben Smith, the marathon runner who is completing 401 marathons in 401 days, ran through the Infant and Junior playgrounds at lunch time greeting children.  Ben started this project on September 1st 2015 and was running his 235th Marathon in Twickenham. He is hoping to raise £250,000 for two Charities, Stonewall and Kidscape; both work tirelessly to combat bullying in schools and society.  Many children have commented that they also saw him being interviewed on television before the London Marathon on Sunday.
