On Wednesday 11th November, the Year 5 & 6 girls football team took part in the Richmond Borough Schools Football Tournament. They played a total of 4 matches against tough competition and were then entered into the plate. The girls played and won 2 matches which meant they faced Collis Primary School in the final. After a thrilling match, there was no score so it was down to penalties. Archdeacon was victorious and claimed the Plate. Well done girls. See next newsletter for match report.
Last Thursday’s Reading and Phonics Evening was well attended by parents across the Infants and lower Juniors. We have now put the materials on the website for those of you who were unable to attend. They can be found under Parent Information and then Helping at Home.
Last Saturday brought beautiful weather and a very successful DIg Day. Children and parents enjoyed exploring the Wildlife Area and collaborating on a range of projects. Volunteers both small and large, experienced landscapers and novice gardeners contributed to a lovely morning. Amongst many other achievements, we pruned the plum tree, cleaned up the pond, weeded the herb garden, strimmed the wildflower meadow and repaired the compost bins. The Foundation Stage Outside Area also received some attention and has been weeded, tidied and has been brightened up with some new bedding plants. A tea and cake break midway through the morning was enthusiastically received by all, especially the children! Thank you so much to all our willing volunteers. We hope to welcome even more of you at the next Dig Day on 16th October 2015.
Today we celebrated our Founder’s Day and start of term service. Our school will have been open for 143 years on September 13th and today we talked about our founder, George Cambridge. The children sang beautifully and finished the service with the School Song.

This week we took part in 2 basketball tournaments organised by Richmond Knights. Years 3 & 4 played really well and reached the final. They then lost 10 – 8 in a close final match with St James’s School.
Years 5 & 6 also played really well and they won all their matches. Well done to all who took part.
We are pleased and proud to announce the outcome of our RE inspection. We were graded Outstanding in every category, receiving an outstanding grade overall. The children impressed the Inspector with their singing, comments about worship and their observation that relationships are harmonious. The report also noted the positive impact on the school of Rev Tim Garrett’s weekly assemblies, the leadership of RE by Mrs Patterson and Mrs Ramsland and how the spiritual development of the school community is supported by our ‘Praying Parents’ group.
