Welcome back letter

7th March 2021

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back!  We are really looking forward to having the children back in school tomorrow.  We are really proud of how they all coped with their home learning or in key worker school. Thank you to you all for your support and kind words during this unusual time.  It will be great to get back to normal for all of us!!

We felt it would be useful to send out the Year 3 information again to support you with the transition back to school.

PE lessons will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Please send your child into school wearing their PE kit on these days each week.

Homework will be set every Monday and will need to be completed and handed in on the following Monday, giving children a whole week to complete it.

We ask that the children read every evening.  They can continue to use Bug Club too.  We will be assessing the children’s reading and ensuring they are on the correct book band.

Spelling words will be sent home every Monday and tested the following Monday.  The children should be completing the spelling sheet every night in the appropriate column, using their best handwriting.  The children can practice their spellings on J2e – Spell Blast too.

Times tables can be practiced regularly using TT Rockstars

We will now encourage the children to write their homework in their home/school books, so we won’t be sending out a weekly letter this term.  Any notes, reminders or messages to you will be sent home in the home/school book too, so it is important that this is in school every day.  Please check this regularly.  We will ask the children to show it to you if there is anything important in it.

Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school every day as the drinking fountains are not available at the moment.  Also, please send your child in with a healthy snack for break time.  Please ensure the children are warmly dressed while the weather is still chilly as we will have the door and windows open to ventilate the classroom.

Please continue to communicate with us whenever you need to via the home/school book, notes, phone calls via the office or the Year 3 email (year3@archdeaconcambridges.richmond.sch.uk).  We will be checking this email account daily.

Our focus for the first week back is well-being.  We have planned lots of activities to support the children with their transition back to school and to ensure they feel safe and happy. Please let us know if your child is struggling in any way, so that we can support them appropriately.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing the children tomorrow.

Miss Bayman, Mr Kent and Maggie
