Year 1 Weekly Information Letter

Friday 3rd December 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have had a great week of learning. The Nativity practice is going well and we look forward to you being able to see them perform. Christmas has begun in Year 1! Next week we will be doing a phonics and word reading assessment with each child instead of reading. We will still change reading books as usual and will send home a list of phonic sounds and words to practice before the Christmas Holidays.

Thank you for sending in clothing for our nativity next week. These will stay in school until we have finished our performances. Clothes will be sent home on Thursday 9th December. We are looking forward to seeing you at the performances next week.

Please find some information to help support your child over the next week.

Homework

Thank you for completing the homework again this week. This week will be the last homework of the year. Please complete a further two activities from the activity grid. Homework should be handed in by Wednesday. We realise that some children may require more motivation to complete the homework, there are some practical ideas which do not necessarily need a pencil to complete.

Maths

We have been recognising and naming 2D shapes this week. Next week we move onto 3D shapes. Cube, Cuboid, Pyramid, Cylinder, Sphere, Cone.

See if your child can spot any of these on their journey to school or at home.

We look forward to seeing you at the Year 1 and Year 2 Nativity.

Thank you for your continued support.
