Week Beginning: Monday 22nd February 2021

Friday 12th February 2021

Well done on a fantastic half term of Home Learning! We have loved seeing the amazing work that has been completed from home. You can see lots of the work you have completed on the Year 2 page of the website. It’s been incredible hearing how much you have learnt about The Great Fire of London this half term and your newspaper reports were tremendous! Next week is half term and we will not be setting any home learning. Please take this time to relax. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of the hard work you are doing. 2N and 2PR you have worked so hard during this strange and different time. We are all so proud of the work you have done and you should be proud as well! Parents we would like to thank you for all the effort you are putting into home learning and delivering our activities to your children. Thank you for all the extra effort of uploading work onto MyUSO for us to see. We appreciate it so much.

Whole School Project

We are looking forward to the children't return and to celebrate this, we will be putting together an installation of children's artwork to welcome them back. We would like children to draw a portrait of themselves on a piece of fabric provided by the school. This should be completed in pencil and a permanent marker used to go over the lines. The style is a simple line drawing similar to the 'art tea towels' previously done by year groups(see picture example below). We would ask children to write just their first name on the front of the artwork.

Coloured fabric can be collected from boxes outside the school gates on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd February. Each year group will have a particular colour; please ensure you take from the correct year group's box. We would ask for this to be dropped back into school via the provided box by Friday 26th February.

Week Beginning: Monday 22nd February

All of the home learning for the first week after half term can be found below. In English we start our new topic and will be looking at Traditional Tales. In Maths we will continue looking at 2D and 3D Shapes. With Spring on the way we will begin looking at Plants in Science.

Notices:

  • Please see the Weekly Learning Grid for information on this week’s video calls.

  • New reading books will be ready to collect on Monday 22nd February between 9:30am and 10am. Please remember to return completed books during this time as well. During this time we would also like you to bring into school any work that has been completed at home. Please ensure that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. We will then keep this work in school. If you are unable to collect reading books, please email and let us know or log into www.activelearnprimary.co.uk and read the allocated BugClub books. Remember to click on the ‘Bug’ to answer questions on what you are reading.

  • If you are unable to print any of the resources at home please send an email to the year 2 email address before 8:00am on Monday 22nd  and we will make packs available for you to collect with your child’s new reading books.

Thank you for all of your hard work this week. Remember we will be logged into Microsoft Teams chat daily between 9:30 and 11:30 to answer any questions you have. Outside of those times you can email: year2@archdeaconcambridges.richmond.sch.uk.

Have a wonderful half term,
