Year 1 Information Letter

Dear Parents and Carers

This week the children have enjoyed swimming twice in one week and they have made pleasing progress this term. The children are looking forward to the school Jubilee celebrations next week. Thank you for all of the fantastic homework, we had a great selection of significant people from the Noughties.

Notices

• PE will continue on Tuesday (24^th), please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit to school.
• Due to Jubilee celebrations, swimming will take place on Thursday (26^th) next week. Please ensure your child wears their PE on this day and has their swimming kit with them. This will be the final swimming session of the year.
• On Friday (27^th) children should come to school dressed as either a famous person from the decade we have been studying (2000s), a member of the royal family, to reflect the fashion of the decade or in the patriotic colours of red, white and blue.

Jubilee Week

The children will be practising a song to perform at the school tea party on next week. They will also be performing in front of the whole school to represent the decade we have been looking at. There will be an art gallery which the children will contribute to. They will paint a picture of the significant person they researched for their homework.

We will also be looking at significant moments from the decade and creating a timeline. The children will write about the Queen, her role and describe what she looks like from a selection of photos. This should be a fun week!

Homework

There will be no homework this week but please continue to read with your child at home.
