Week beginning 11.01.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well done for completing lots of Home Learning activities last week! We are glad to see how well children have responded to the ideas suggested, as well as other learning opportunities you are creating for them. Thank you for the observations we have received so far on Tapestry and please continue to upload them regularly as it really helps us to keep track of the childrens learning and to plan future activities.

Teachers will continue to meet via Teams with small groups of children. The purpose of these meetings is for children to have contact with their friends and teachers and interact in games or learning activities as a group. Please let us know in advance if you have any problem with the allocated times, so we can add your child to a different group.

This week the meeting times will be:

RF: 1.00pm

RM: 1.30pm

Additionally, one teacher is available on Teams daily from 11.00 to 12.00am and 2.00 and 3.00pm. During these times we can support children with learning activities or parents with the Home Learning suggestions.

The school has a short term subscription with Bug Club online books at the moment. We hope you make the most of these books, as they have been selected for your child, thinking of their reading level. Please let us how your child responds to these books.

School Reading books will be available for collection on Monday at 9.00am from the front of the school. We will also be including a Bingo sheet for each child to use during their Teams call this week (These will also be shared electronically in case you can’t collect books on Monday).

Also please return any school books you may have at home and add your childs name on a piece of paper so we know whose books have been returned.

Next Week

  • Please continue to work through the ‘Home Learning Ideas – Week 2.
  • Try the Busy Things activities set for Reception children.
  • We have added a Fine Motor folder with pencil control and handwriting activities. Please ensure that you supervise your child while they do these activities and pay really close attention to their pencil grip and letter formation – it is really important that children follow the arrows to form these letters in the correct way and establish good habits.
  • Practise daily phonics, reading and Maths skills. At this age is important that new learning is introduced little by little but practised frequently, for instance 15 minutes a day.
  • Add a Tapestry observation about the school reading books we have selected for your child. We would like to keep track of their progress and ensure we are giving them the correct level, so they can read the book and understand what the book is about.
  • Thank you again for all of your support in helping to continue your child’s learning. Please do get in touch if you have any questions, either via Tapestry or  email address.

There have been some questions about logins this week, hopefully this will help.

We are posting the weekly letter and activities via website and Tapestry. We will also pass on any other information to our class reps, so they can share it via Classlist.

Thank you for your continued support,

Reception Team
